The Ubiquitous Meme

I don't know if there are any blogs that I read that haven't done this yet, so I guess I get to take my turn now. :)

1) Take the nearest book of more than 123 pages.
2) Find page 123.
3) Find the fifth sentence.
4) Post the next three sentences.
5) Tag some folks.

The nearest book is The Daring Book for Girls which Reeda and I were given for Christmas. My husband and I weren't thrilled with it, especially the occult elements, so it is sitting here waiting for us to decide what we are going to do with it.

So, without further ado, here are the sentences:

She began working odd jobs, including driving a truck and working at a telephone company, to earn money for flying lessons with female aviator Anita "Neta" Snook. After six months of lessons, she bought her own plane, a used yellow biplane that she nicknamed "The Canary," and in October 1922 she flew it to an altitude of 14,000 feet, setting a world record for women pilots. In May 1923, Earhart became the sixteenth woman to be issued a pilot's license by the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI).
So if there is anyone out there who hasn't done this, you are hereby tagged.

The Daring Book for Girls was produced from some misguided sense of equality (or more precisely, from an acute sense that money could be made off the misguided sense of equality of consumers) after the Dangerous Book for Boys made a success. From what I've seen of the latter, it is pretty cool, but I refuse to have anything to do with the former.
